Destruction of Records Notice

PUBLIC NOTICE This notice is to inform you of your right to access special education records through your public school district. According to Federal and State guidelines, special education records must be destroyed six years after a student is dismissed, graduated, found ineligible, or if the records are no longer useful in making educational decisions. Under these guidelines, notice is hereby given that on August 5, 2024, the Magnet Cove School District intends to destroy all special education records for students who have graduated, moved, dropped, been dismissed, or found ineligible for services either during or prior to 2018. These records are not your child’s permanent records. They are only special education due process forms and records. The purpose of this destruction is to protect the student from improper and unauthorized disclosure of confidential information contained with the file. Parents or students (age 18 or older) who would like to review and/or pick up their special education records should contact Magnet Cove School District Special Education office at 501-332-5468 ext 507 before August 1, 2024. If you have any questions regarding this notice, you may contact Karen Harris, Special Education Supervisor, at karen.harris@magnetcove.k12.ar.us. ** PLEASE NOTE: THESE RECORDS ARE NOT THE STUDENT’S PERMANENT RECORDS. THEY ARE ONLY SPECIAL EDUCATION DOCUMENTS.
