School Counselor/Parent Facilitator
I am a graduate of Hot Springs High School and Henderson State University.
I attended Henderson State University and received my BSE in elementary education in 1991. I also attended Henderson for graduate school and received my MSE in school counseling in 2008. I am certified PK-12 for school counseling.
My teaching career began at Magnet Cove Elementary in 1991 when I was hired as a special education aide. The following year I was hired as 5th and 6th grade social studies teacher. After two years in that position, I moved to 3rd grade. Nine years later, I became the elementary math intervention teacher and worked with students in grades K-6. In 2009, I was hired as the elementary counselor where I hope to stay until I retire!
I am married to Jim Whisenhunt and we have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Our 3 children are graduates of MC. Four of the grandchildren live in Colorado. Three live close by and are attending school at Magnet Cove.
We have 3 granddogs –a wild and crazy Boston terrier named Archie, a huge pyredoodle named Elvis and a little Rat Terrier named Winter.
I have been working at Magnet Cove Elementary School since 1991 and still love being here everyday. When I am not at school, I like spending time with my family and enjoy camping with them whenever I can.
