6 - 12 Media Specialist
I am a 1987 graduate of Palestine High School in Palestine, AR. I attended Texas A&M University at Texarkana; I graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a specialization in English. I returned to college in 2013 for my Masters degree. I received a Masters in Library Media and Information Services in May of 2015.
I have been an educator since 1991. I began my teaching carrer in Texarkana Arkansa School District where I taught 7th and 8th grade English until 2005. In 2006, our family moved to Shirley, Arkansas where I taught 3rd grade for 1 year and 5th grade for 2 years. We then moved to England where I taught at England Elementary for 7 years. While at England, I taught 3rd and 4th grades before moving to the elementary library in 2013. After graduating with my Masters in 2015, I got the opportunity to come to Magnet Cove. I have been in the high school library since the fall of 2015. I am also the Beta Club Sponsor and the Community Service Learning Coordinator as well as District Testing Coordinator for Magnet Cove.
My husband and I got married in 2001. We have one son, Drew, who is currently attending Pulaski Tech Culinary Arts Institute; he is working towards certification as a pastry chef. Our family also includes a calico cat named Patches and 2 bloodhound, Dixie and Penny.
I am an AVID Razorbacks football fan. I also love reading and spending time with my family and friends. I am a big fan of true crime books and shows.
I am in my 7th year as the Media Specialist for grades 6-12. This year begins my30th year in education. I love working with kids and I love books, so this is the perfect job for me! Magnet is a great place to teach; I am so blessed to be here! PPRD!
