About Us

The Magnet Cove Band Program for grades 6-12 offers a comprehensive and engaging musical education for students. It focuses on developing instrumental skills, music theory knowledge, and performance techniques. The program encourages creativity and teamwork through various ensembles, including concert bands and marching bands. Students have opportunities to perform at school events, competitions, and community functions, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment. Our band director supports each student's musical journey, ensuring a nurturing and inspiring environment where young musicians can thrive and explore their passion for music.

Instrument Music (Band) is currently offered to students in grades 6 through 12 and is broken into 3 performing ensembles.

The rookie band is our 6th grade beginning band class. This class focuses on introducing band students to basic music skills such as rhythm and notation, developing proper technique on their chosen instrument, the fundamentals of ensemble playing, and allowing students to develop their love of music.

The junior band is our 7th and 8th grade band class. These students continue to focus on musicianship skills and develop a greater understanding of rhythm and notation, continued development of playing technique, and greater understanding of ensemble playing. This band feeds young players into the high school band.

The high school band is for students in grades 9 through 12. These students demonstrate high proficiency on their instruments and many students elect to learn a secondary instrument. These students have higher understanding of rhythm, notation, and are encouraged to develop both ensemble playing and solo playing skills. This band showcases these skills throughout the year by competing at contests and festivals  throughout the year at the region and state levels. The high school band can be seen at Magnet Cove athletic events, local parades, and special events for the Magnet Cove community. The band has performed in the 2019 Peach Bowl music festival, and the 2022 Liberty Bowl. While at the liberty bowl, the band performed with special musical guests Starship!
